The Way of the Cross is one of the most well-known devotional practices in Catholicism — a path of prayer and reflection that retraces the final hours of Jesus Christ.

Der Kreuzweg (lateinisch: Via Crucis oder Via Dolorosa) besteht aus 14 Stationen, die den Leidensweg Jesu von seiner Verurteilung durch Pontius Pilatus bis zur Grablegung darstellen. Jede Station ist durch ein Bild, Relief oder Kreuz markiert.

The Way of the Cross (Latin: Via Crucis or Via Dolorosa) consists of 14 stations depicting the suffering of Jesus from his condemnation by Pontius Pilate to his burial. Each station is marked by an image, relief, or cross.

Die Tradition entstand im Mittelalter. Pilgernde, die nicht nach Jerusalem reisen konnten, wollten die heiligen Stätten symbolisch am eigenen Ort erleben. So entstanden Kreuzwege in ganz Europa — in Kapellen, an Hängen, in Wäldern und auf Bergen.

The tradition arose in the Middle Ages. Pilgrims who could not travel to Jerusalem wished to experience the holy sites symbolically closer to home. Thus Ways of the Cross arose throughout Europe — in chapels, on hillsides, in forests and on mountains.

Am Kalvarienberg Althofen führt der Kreuzweg durch herrliche Kärntner Natur und endet an der Kalvarienbergkapelle — ein Weg, der Körper, Geist und Seele anspricht.

At Kalvarienberg Althofen, the Way of the Cross leads through beautiful Carinthian nature, ending at the Kalvarienberg Chapel — a path that speaks to body, mind and soul.

Die Kalvarienbergkapelle bei Althofen wird erbaut und zum spirituellen Mittelpunkt der Region. Die Familie Kreiner und ihre Verwandtschaft sind historisch eng mit der Kapelle verbunden — Taufen, Hochzeiten und eine Glockenpatin namens Wandelnig zeugen davon.
La cappella del Calvario vicino ad Althofen viene costruita e diventa il centro spirituale della regione. La famiglia Kreiner è storicamente legata alla cappella — battesimi, matrimoni e una madrina della campana di nome Wandelnig ne sono testimoni.
The Kalvarienberg Chapel near Althofen is built and becomes the spiritual centre of the region. The Kreiner family is historically closely linked to the chapel — baptisms, weddings and a bell sponsor named Wandelnig bear witness to this.

Die Kalvarienbergfreunde restaurieren die Dreifaltigkeitskapelle (auch Annakapelle) entlang des Töscheldorferweges — ein Vorzeigeprojekt, das zum Vorbild für das Fercher Marterl wird.
Gli Amici del Calvario restaurano la Cappella della Trinità lungo il Töscheldorferweg — un progetto esemplare che diventa modello per il Marterl Fercher.
The Friends of Kalvarienberg restore the Trinity Chapel (also called Anna Chapel) along the Töscheldorferweg — a model project that becomes the template for the Fercher Marterl.

Dr. Albert Kreiner tritt an Sprecher Alexander Krasznitzer heran und fragt, ob die Freunde das verwilderte Fercher Marterl ähnlich schön restaurieren könnten. Die Idee findet sofort Anklang bei den Kalvarienbergfreunden.
Il dott. Albert Kreiner si avvicina al portavoce Alexander Krasznitzer chiedendo se gli Amici potessero restaurare il Marterl Fercher inselvatichito in modo simile. L'idea viene subito accolta dagli Amici del Calvario.
Dr. Albert Kreiner approaches spokesperson Alexander Krasznitzer asking whether the Friends could restore the overgrown Fercher Marterl similarly. The idea is immediately welcomed by the Friends of Kalvarienberg.

15 freiwillige Idealisten arbeiten von 8–16 Uhr: Trockenlegung, Marmorboden, Lärchenholz-Stiegenaufgang. Gulaschsuppe und Bier in der Mittagspause. „Super Arbeit! Es lebe die Kameradschaft!"
15 volontari idealisti lavorano dalle 8 alle 16: impermeabilizzazione, pavimento in marmo, scalinata in legno di larice. Zuppa di gulasch e birra alla pausa pranzo. "Ottimo lavoro! Viva la cameratesca!"
15 volunteer idealists work from 8am–4pm: drainage, marble floor, larch stairway. Goulash soup and beer at lunchtime. "Great work! Long live camaraderie!"

Robert Schweiger und sein Team schlagen den alten Verputz ab, ziehen neuen Putz auf, restaurieren das Tor (hellblau lackiert mit goldenen Spitzen), installieren Dachrinne, Geländer und bringen den Feinputz auf.
Robert Schweiger e il suo team rimuovono il vecchio intonaco, applicano quello nuovo, restaurano il cancello (verniciato azzurro chiaro con punte dorate), installano la grondaia, i corrimano e applicano l'intonaco fine.
Robert Schweiger and his team remove old plaster, apply new plaster, restore the gate (light blue with gold tips), install the guttering, railings and apply fine render.

La cappella del Calvario vicino ad Althofen è molto più di un luogo di culto — è un luogo vivo di incontro, battesimi, matrimoni e comunità. La famiglia Kreiner è legata a questa cappella da generazioni.

The Kalvarienberg Chapel near Althofen is far more than a place of worship — it is a living place of encounter, baptisms, weddings and community. The Kreiner family and their relatives have been connected to this chapel for generations.

Die Kapelle bildet zusammen mit der Dreifaltigkeitskapelle und dem Fercher Marterl ein einzigartiges spirituelles Ensemble — drei Orte der Stille und Besinnung, miteinander verbunden durch den Kreuzweg und den Hemmaweg.

La cappella forma insieme alla Cappella della Trinità e al Marterl Fercher un ensemble spirituale unico — tre luoghi di silenzio e raccoglimento, uniti dalla Via Crucis e dall'Hemmaweg.
